UAV Comm participates in local March of Dimes
On April 29, 2007, at the Newport News City Center, UAV Communications joined nine-hundred other people to walk in the March of Dimes. Premature birth is the number one cause of death in babies and has steadily increased every year. The mission of the March of Dimes is to bring new hope to this issue by providing programs, organizing acts of community service, and raising awareness to everyone about preventing premature births, birth defects, and infant deaths. Every year, for the past 30 years, hundreds of people in the Newport News area donate money for research and programs just for this cause.
This years’ March of Dimes consisted of a five mile trail starting and ending at the Newport News City Center. Over nine-hundred people walked the trail this year starting at 9am on what became a beautiful day. The weather was light and breezy with wagons, children’s pets, and strollers all on the walk. After the walk, restaurants such as Wendy’s, Starbucks, and Panera Bread all provided food and coffee for walkers.
