UAV Communications, Inc. Develops Unmanned Systems Operations Center to Meet AF and SOCOM Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Needs
Newport News, VA, (Sept. 29, 2008) – UAV Communications, Inc. (UAV Comm) has developed a common Unmanned Systems Operations Center, or USOC, for the Air Force and Special Operations Command to address mission capability needs for Predator & Reaper unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). UAV Comm is building its newest USOC at Cannon AFB, NM. When completed, it will be the largest of its kind and will help maximize the number of unmanned aircraft supporting combat operations, ultimately helping meet Defense Secretary Robert Gates' objective of more ISR now. UAV Comm’s proven performance and reliability was key to its selection to provide critical support for these “no fail” missions. The USOC is the culmination of 5-years experience designing, building, and sustaining Predator Operations Centers for the Air Force and Air National Guard.
UAV Comm’s USOC is the central hub for planning, monitoring, and coordinating unmanned aircraft flights. It provides crews with real-time intelligence and situational awareness information. The USOC supports the highly dynamic nature of operations and requirement for in-mission flexibility. It utilizes state-of-the-art visualization, intelligence, mission planning, communications, collaboration, and analysis tools to manage multiple unmanned aircraft systems, regardless of aircraft or ground control station manufacturer. It is also compatible with improved, universal ground control stations currently under development. The USOC incorporates a common system workstation for faster training, reduced maintenance cost, and easier accreditation. Its ergonomic design takes into account unique human factors associated with 24/7 operations. The USOC system is scalable and can be combined with a tactical shelter & communications package for forward operations.
